During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) downplayed the importance of the number of people who have been kicked off of their insurance because of Obamacare.

Clyburn told host Candy Crowley that insurance companies have been kicking people off for the longest, and that Obamacare kicks people off of their insurance so that they can obtain better insurance.

“I’ve been hearing about cancellation letters, my 21 years in Congress, as soon as the child is born with diabetes, he cannot get on health care policy.

You get a cancellation letter, you limit your benefit. The fact of the matter is we’re trying to stop these cancellation. 

Insurance companies are using the affordable care act to send out new cancellation letters.” But the old “It’s not the law, it’s the interpreter of the law” trick didn’t work too well. 

President Obama’s Obamacare slogan of, “If you like your insurance, you can keep it,” has turned out not to be true.

Throughout the country, Americans have lost their insurance because of Obamacare. Yet, Clyburn says that is a misunderstanding and Obamacare gets rid of the “junk” insurance and places individuals on a better plan.

However, what Clyburn fails to realize is that the problem in both cases is that people are without insurance that will enable them to get proper care.

And the purpose of Obamacare is to provide people with “affordable” insurance. But the purpose is defeated when Obamacare results in people losing affordable insurance that was used to pay for their care.

So Obamacare ends up doing what Rep. Clyburn says that insurance companies have been doing for years, which is placing individuals in a position whereby they have no insurance and are unable to receive medical care for their illnesses.
